1. After you have logged into your cPanel account, you will be presented with the interface below. Click on the Mail icon.

2. You will then be brought to the screen below. To proceed, click on SpamAssassin. SpamAssassin is the program which is going to help you flag spam emails.

3. From the screen below, please note the Current Status of your hosting account. If SpamAssassin has not been enabled yet, click on the Enable SpamAssassin button. To simplify the process we will not be turning on the Spam Box.

After SpamAssassin has been enabled, click on the Configure SpamAssassin (required to rewrite subjects) button.

4. Now that you are on this screen, ensure that you configure the following. Firstly, add a score into the required_score textbox. We are recommending a score of 8.  Next, add the text *****SPAM***** to the rewrite_header subject textbox. Click on Save when you are done.

Now all emails which are determined as spam by SpamAssassin will be flagged with the text *****SPAM***** in the subject of the email.


5. After clicking on the Save button, you will be brought back to the menu in point 2. Click on the E-mail Filtering link to access the following screen.

Once on this screen, click Add Filter.

6. Now, replicate the settings on the following screen. In the first drop-down menu, select Subject. In the second drop-down menu select Contains. In the textbox next to it, type *****SPAM*****. Finally set the destination to Discard.

What you have just configured, is a rule which states that every e-mail which has been flagged *****SPAM***** in the subject should be automatically discarded by the Control Panel software.

After you have replicated the settings, click on the Activate button.

7. After clicking on the Activate button, you will be brought to this screen. It shows a summary of the filter which you have configured.

Congratulations! You have just configured SpamAssassin to flag all spam e-mails with *****SPAM***** in the subject area and then configured your Control Panel to automatically discard these emails before they reach your mailbox.
